Ear Conditions
Vertigo
The most common symptom of vertigo is dizziness with spinning sensation that may cause you to stop what you’re doing or even fall on the floor. The feeling can be similar to motion sickness. Other common symptoms are nausea or vomiting, problems focusing the eyes, hearing loss or ringing/buzzing in the ears and loss of balance or unsteadiness, among others. Some testing may be required as there are several possible causes and the treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Treatment can range from simple exercises, therapy, medication as well as surgery.
Otitis Media (middle ear infection, glue ear)
Otitis media with effusion is a middle ear infection often caused by glue ear or a thick and sticky fluid filling behind the ear drum. Glue ear is common among children but can also happen in adults. It can go away by itself but can also be treated by using grommets (or small tubes implanted in the ear) or surgery
Tinnitus (ringing in ears)
Tinnitus is commonly the ringing noise in one or both ears that may be constant or come and go. But the noise can also sound like buzzing, hissing, clicking or whistling. The sound isn’t usually external and can’t be heard by others. Treatments may include ear wax removal, use of hearing aid or changing medication. Your ENT will likely need to do some tests to identify the underlying cause and recommend the appropriate treatment.

Swimmer’s ear, hearing loss, ear drum perforation and cholesteatoma
